Roof Repairs

Maintaining the integrity of your roof is the most important of all home repairs. A sound roof protects your homes structure and your family from severe weather and its damaging effects.

A qualified roofing specialist should inspect your roof every few years or after any serious storm activity. Action needs to be taken at the first sign of any wear or roof damage. Ignored roofing problems will quickly compound and if not repair will lead to a premature new roof. A local roofer can help you determine whether a repair is needed or a roof replacement should be considered.

Asphalt Shingle Repairs

There are three basic types of shingle damage to look for: torn shingles, curled shingles, and cracked Shingles.

Torn Shingles Repairs

Torn ShingleTorn asphalt shingles can be easily repaired with roofing cement. Apply roofing cement under the torn shingle and press down on it for a few minutes. Then hammer roofing nails into each side of the shingle and cover both the nails and the tear with more roofing cement.

Curled Shingles Repairs                                                 Curled Shingles

Apply a generous portion of roofing cement under the curled shingle and hold the curl edges down for a few minutes. Afterward nail roofing nails to each corner and cover the nails with more roofing cement.

Cracked Shingle Repairs

Cedar Shake Replacement

Cedar shakes add a warm northwest feeling to your home. However as they age they begin to lose some of their naturally protective qualities. Over time some will decay, warp, or split. When this happens you’ll need to replace them as quickly as possible. Annual roofing inspection will identify problem areas before they become real problems.

Cedar Shake Repairs

Use the old shake as a pattern for the replacement shake. Then use a utility knife to trim it to size. Slide your new shake into place and align with existing shakes. Secure the new shake by hammering 2 nails through the shake above. Unlike the original nails these will remain exposed.
